Cruise News - Era of Cheaper Cruises
July 17 – 2012 : Cheap to Cruise from Britain
Those who love to cruise and are on the look out for bargain prices are well used to last minute “specials”, but right now, cruise lovers traveling in and out of Britain are enjoying record breaking low fares – and these bargain prices are not just for last minute deals.
While these discounts may not necessarily apply to the ever popular Caribbean cruises on the mega cruise lines, a lot of the major cruise lines are taking part in these massive savings, even the more luxury companies like Cunard who are offering record breaking fares on cruises to the Canaries. A 12-night Cunard Line cruise to that destination, for example, can be found for not much above $1,000.
Fred Olsen Cruise Lines are offering half price deals on many cruises from Southampton and MSC Cruises are tempting passengers with similar deals, and not necessarily trips within days of booking the journey as is usual with really cut-price cruise bargains. The same applies with similar discounts with Hurtigruten Cruises.
The only word of warning offered to would-be cruisers who are getting excited about these new bargain prices is that they very often do not include cabin category up-grades, and while this would not matter to some, especially those who don’t need or want to spend anything more than really necessary time in their cabins, for others it can be a little claustrophobic to spend 2 weeks in a cabin with no window or balcony.
Cruise lines are warning, however, that these “crazy” bargains will not go on for ever, that this pattern of sales has been seen before, and is always found to return to normal levels after a certain time of recovery on the part of the cruise lines.
It has been suggested that prices will return normal levels within a few years.
Prow’s Edge’s advice is to take advantage of these prices while they last. That you do not necessarily need to book last minute for such bargains, and that cheap deals are not limited to the usual “cheapy” Caribbean cruises.
Find the web sites for your favorite cruise lines and take a hunt for these current low prices or try shorter cruises on cruise lines you would not have considered before. You may well find a new preferred carrier that becomes a best friend even when prices return to normal in a few years.
