Dec 01 - 2012 : Fred Olsen Cruise Lines explore's Africa in Winter 2013
aboard the Black Watch
Fred. Olsen’s Black Watch cruise ship will be heading for the sun in January 2013, on an epic 80-night voyage around Africa. Why not start the year in style and join the first sector of this fabulous cruise?
Depart from Southampton on 10th January 2013 for a 24-night cruise sector (W130112), with flights back from Cape Town. On departure, you can relax and enjoy four leisurely days at sea, the perfect antidote to Christmas and New Year excesses! The first port of call is the sunny island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, then Mindelo in the pretty Cape Verde Islands, fast becoming a cruising favourite. Black Watch’s first African port of call is Banjul in The Gambia. The colourful market, bustling harbour and vibrancy of this port could not be further from a cold, grey British winter.
More pleasant time at sea allows you to make the most of Black Watch’s many facilities – her fitness centre, spa, library and card room, heated pools and hot tubs, as well as bars and lounges. Keep in touch with home from the internet centre, or make use of the Wi-Fi hotspots on board.
Next port is Walvis Bay in Namibia, where the extensive wetlands are home to some exotic birdlife, including flocks of flamingos. Next stop is Lüderitz, also in Namibia, which was once a centre of diamond mining, but is now a ‘ghost town’, and popular tourist attraction. The final port on this sector is world-famous Cape Town; a full day here allows time to see the iconic sights, including taking a cable car to the top of Table Mountain. Homeward flights depart from here, arriving back in the UK on 3rd February 2013.
Prices for this ‘Voyage to Africa’ currently start from just £1,449 per person, based on two adults sharing an Outside, twin cabin, with a ‘Latesaver’ deal. The price includes all meals and entertainment on board, return flights from Cape Town, and port and airport taxes.
